Synopsis (From GoodReads):

In the Blue, the world’s last city, all is not well.
Julia is stuck within its walls. She serves the nobility from a distance until she meets Lucas, a boy who believes in fairytales that Julia’s world can’t accommodate. The Blue is her prison, not her castle, and she’d escape into the trees if she didn’t know that contamination and death awaited humanity outside.
But not everyone in the Blue is human, and not everyone can be contained.
Beyond the city’s boundaries, in the wild forests of the Red, Cameron has precious little humanity left to lose. As he searches for a lost queen, he finds an enemy rising that he thought long dead. An enemy that the humans have forgotten how to fight.
One way or another, the walls of the Blue are coming down. The only question is what side you’ll be on when they do

Review :

This book was not what I expected and in a good way.

Josie’s writing style is really good, it has a flow to it and you find yourself absorbed in the story and you are able to follow along as things unfold in front of you.

I really enjoyed this book, it headed in a way I wasn’t expecting and I was pleasantly surprised by the story and how much I liked it. It quite tropy, just FYI, it has insta-love, Vampires and Zombies and the whole lot but this uses all these elements in a very ingenious way.

The pacing of the story was pretty solid, it was a little slow at the start but once it reached a point it picked up and I found myself turning pages to know what was going to happen next.

I enjoyed the entire intrigue around the Silver’s and the Weepers and I am very excited to get to know more about the Virus and what else is going to happen because that ending was quite something and it left me wanting more.

It is a dual perspective story and I loved Julia’s part quite a lot more than Cameron’s but I like him as a character as well.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and I am excited to read the sequel. I will recommend this book to anyone looking for a good dytopian story with Vampires in it.

About the Author:

I have always written stories, but it wasn’t until I started the first book in the Solis Invicti series in 2014 that I really became obsessed with writing. I love to read, particularly where the escapism of the story is enhanced with an element of fantasy or science fiction. For me, writing is simply an extension of that journey, but I get to decide what happens next (though it’s amazing how often the characters seem to decide for themselves what I’m going to write!).
I love to hear from readers, so please do get in touch through my website or via Twitter.
Thank you for reading!
