Until last year, I never had enough books to make two separate posts on books I did not like and books that disappointed me but this year that happened and it really sucks but I will definitely hope that this year is an outlier…
Now, it is no secret that I have had a pretty terrible reading year and have been in a very sucky life slump which definitely affected my reading and unfortunately I ended picking up some pretty average and terrible books, so I have another 5 books to talk about today
Before we begin, I just wanna say that these are just my opinions on these books and if anyone of your favorites has ended up up here on this list, it is not meant to be an attack on you or on your tastes neither is this an attack on the author, these are just my person opinions
There are some unpopular opinions on this list, so I am kinda scared but let’s just get into it though tbh I did not remember anything about these books at all, like I really had to look up my reviews and wrap ups to remember my feelings and thoughts about these books

The Book Eater by Sunyi Dean
This book has so much potential and such a cool premise but it lacked the execution and the characters were so bland, like it hurts so much to say because I wanted to love this so badly but at the end, I did not.
The ending was also pretty lackluster, the action did not stand out at all and there were parts of it that were good but overall it was meh
With Fire in Their Blood by Kat Delacorte
It had a great atmosphere, very interesting premise and a lot of potential unfortunately it was not executed well
A lot of stuff was too easy given the stakes, there were no consequences for a lot of stuff, again given the fact the stakes were so high, there should have been consequences! And one of the plot twists I saw coming a mile away.
The saving grace was definitely the ending and how well it was played out and definitely the atmosphere.

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
I was left bored for majority of the story and a lot of the end did not make sense to me
At the end, I was super bored and was just kinda done with the story
This book was not one for me but if you do find it interesting the check out Stephen’s Review of it below
Fortuna Sworn by KJ Sutton
I think this book may pull what ACOMAF did but the first book was very meh and so boring, definitely wanted to learn more about the creatures and am really curious to see how the romance will develop but as the first books goes, it was pretty damn meh and badly executed.
It definitely needed more pages and more concrete execution along with a little better editing and even though this has ended up on my worst books of the year list, I will definitely be reading book 2, hopefully it will be better than this one

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
This sucked…I am sorry that was harsh, this was not good, the only good thing about this was the female friendship were great but overall it was meh…
It was a love at first sight romance, the main fight was not followed by an important conversation which it should have had, the ending was unnecessary in so many ways that it legit made me wanna throw the book out of a window
People can change their minds about their biggest dreams because people growth in maturity as much as they do in age as time passes so the extra stuff that was added felt like it was added for shock value and overall that had it feel kinda cheap

I’m sorry you didn’t like it, it sucks when a book falls so completely flat
