So I have been super obsessed with Greek Mythology recently, that mostly came from randomly stumbling on to the Overly Sarcastic Production YouTube Channel and the amount of mythology and folklore videos that they have is amazing and it lead me to spiral into a Greek Myth obsession!
So when I was out of idea and was looking at book tags I could attempt and saw this one, I knew I had to do it.
I am gonna try and stick to the books I read in 2021 and 2020 in this tag, so let’s just get into the tag.
This tag was created by Flipthatpage
Zeus (Jupiter) || The God of Sky and Thunder || King of the Pantheon – Favorite Book
Okay so Zeus is my least favorite Greek God, he is giant ASSHOLE! and so damn arrogant and majorly the reason behind everything and anything that went wrong back in the day.
Though keeping my personal hatred of Zeus a side, I am gonna talk about one of my all time favorite books and no I am not pulling out The Dresden Files yet, though it is my favorite series of all time but for this one I am going for one of my favorite book I have read this year and that is…
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, the character journey in this story is just phenomenal and I related to Nesta a lot and I fell in love with the book
Poseidon (Neptune) || God of Sea and Earthquakes – Book that drowned you in feels
There are a few books that hurt me but one of the books the hit me right in the feels was The Seven Husband of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
WOW! It was such a great book with a stunning cast of characters who were so damn realistic and amazing that they made the story so much more believable and that ending was just amazing.
Hades (Pluto) || God of the Underworld – Favorite Book with a Dark/ominous plot
Hades is my favorite Greek God! He ranks on the top of my list since between the 3 OG tough guys, Hades is the only one who actually does his job and is good to his wife and doesn’t fool around.
This year one of the best books I read with gothic vibes was The Shadow and the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Man that book was sooooo good! Like SOOOOOOO GOOD!
With a stunning story with dark and eerie vibes and a mystery plot which will not only keep you guessing but also leave you shook at the reveals! This is hands down one of the best gothic books I have read in a while.
Hera (Juno) || Goddess of Marriage and Family – Cutest Fictional Couple
This year out of the many romance books I have read is Elle and Darcy from Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefluer.
Not only do these two playout my favorite trope, enemies to lovers but also are so damn adorable and cute that they make my heart melt plus Alexandria Bellefleur’s writing style is so damn phenomenal and amazing.
Athena (Minerva) || Goddess of Wisdom, Handicraft and Strategic Warfare – Series with the best world building
Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo has a really cool which Leigh builds over the series and I am assuming in the rest of the books set in the world and also has a cool magic system.
Aphrodite (Venus) || Goddess of Love and Beauty – Most Beautiful cover on a 2021 release
Bloody Spade by Brittany M. Willows has a great cover, and it so purple and lovely plus my favorite character is on the cover
Ares (Mars) || God of War and Bloodshed – Most violent book you’ve ever read
Mirrorland by Carole Johnstone was such a dark and heavy book, definitely not extremely violent plus the story is dark-VERY-dark so be vary of that
Hephaestus (Vulcan) || God of Blacksmiths and Fire – Scorching hot swoon worthy character
Kell from the Shades of Magic by VE Schwab, he is such a good looking character and is such a good character in general that it is hard not to love him!
Plus he is strong af and super cool with his red hair and one black eye…cue swooning
Artemis (Diana) || Goddess of the Hunt and Virginity – Favorite Kick-Ass Heroine
I am gonna go with Addie LaRue on this one, she may not be the quintessential kickass heroine, she may not have saved worlds or defeated an evil force
But it takes courage to live for 300 years and even more courage to live the life Addie has lived, she is an phenomenal character and I love her so much, her strength in the face of the darkness and her refusal to give up makes me add her to this list
Phoebus Apollo (Apollo) || God of Light and Healing – Sequel book that redeemed its series
So I have not read any sequels who have redeemed their series this year so I am gonna go with the most obvious choice and pick A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas, I really disliked ACOTAR when I read it the first time but my friend pushed me to read ACOMAF and I am really glad since I loved it loads and the ACOTAR series is now one of my favorite series of all time
Hermes (Mercury) || Messenger God of Thieves and Commerce – Book with the best message
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, this book is an extremely heartbreaking story which teaches us to not judge someone without knowing their entire story and also not before trying to understand where they come from in a stitauton.
Hestia (Vesta) || Goddess of the Hearth and Home – Book with the most relatable story
For this I am gonna go with Love Creekwood by Becky Albertalli because I know what it is like to have all of your friends far away and the feeling of missing them so much and this book captured that in a way.
Demeter (Ceres) || Goddess of Fertility and Agriculture – Favorite bookish setting
Prythain in the ACOTAR world has one of my favorite bookish settings, it is cool and so damn magical plus living in a place with eternal weather world be insanely amazing
Dionysus (Bacchus) || God of Wine and Celebration – 2021 release you are most anticipating
Tbh, I have stopped keeping up with book released but out of the few I know that are gonna release I am really looking forward to reading Here’s to Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera, the sequel to What if it’s Us.
I really loved the first book and can’t wait to see where the story is headed in the second one.
